Operations Manager - Terry McEntee
Following a brief period in telecommunications I took up a career in teaching. Living in Lancashire, I taught for many years in a Blackburn High School where I was Head of PE. In 2004 I was seconded to Lancashire Education Authority to a sports development role within the PE and Sport Advisory Team. While in this post I supported the establishment of youth sport development functions in local authorities. I also managed the National Junior Sports Programme for the county, which included implementation of the TOPS Programme and Coaching for Teachers. I played a key role in establishing the first Lancashire Youth Games in 1996 and managed the development of the Lancashire PE and Sports Development Strategy.
In July 2000 I moved to Suffolk to take up the post of Active Sports Partnership Manager for the county. Since then I have had a continuous presence in the Partnership playing a central role in the evolution to a County Sports Partnership.
As a participant my main involvement has been in Gaelic Football, Hockey and Athletics. I was awarded Life Membership of Blackburn Harriers and AC. Today my participation is more recreational and includes golf, walking, jogging and cycling.
My main areas of work within the Suffolk Sport Team are:
- Community Sports Networks
- National Governing Bodies
- Disability Sport
- Building Schools for the Future
- Facilities Strategy
- Local Authorities
